Steve Walsh: No recovery without peopleAt the side event "Energy Education: the Path to Innovation and the Role of Private Business" during URC2025, participants emphasized a clear point: no plan in the energy sector will work without people.“You can have funding, projects, technologies — but without human capital, nothing is possible. People are not just a resource; they are the foundation of recovery!” said Steven Walsh, Member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo.More than 100 employees of the company have voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Nine of them have been killed. Their choice is not an exception, but a reminder of the responsibility that rests with both business and the state.Among the proposed solutions: launching a veteran retraining program modeled on Skills Bridge; increasing the participation of women in technical and leadership roles; and building strong partnerships between education, business, and government as a condition for innovation.Mr. Walsh heads a working group on employee training, which includes members of the Supervisory Board and representatives of the company’s management.
