📖 CELPIP Reading Part 3 can feel overwhelming because the texts are long, the vocabulary is harder, and many answers sound “almost correct.”But in reality this is one of my favourite parts on the test. One strategy that helps a lot is changing the way you approach the passage. I scored 12 on Reading, so hopefully this does help.A lot of students try to fully understand the whole text first. That usually wastes a lot of time on translating the new words and full sentences.Instead, try this 👇1️⃣ Review the questions before you start reading to identify potential keywordsThis gives you an idea of what information you’ll need later.2️⃣ Read one paragraph at a time and scan for keywordsAfter each paragraph, quickly note the main idea on the sheet of paper in 1-2 words. 3️⃣ Right after finishing the paragraph, check where it fits with the answersMany students read the entire passage first and then start searching again from the beginning. That doubles the work. Your job is to identify all potential correct answers. One paragraph can easily fit into 2-4 answers. 4️⃣ Don’t focus too much on difficult vocabularyIn Part 3, understanding the overall meaning is usually more important than knowing every single word.5️⃣ Make sure you reserve 1-2 minutes at the endUse this time to check you work. If you feel that some answers aren't a fit - pick option E (Not given in any of the above paragraphs)A small mindset shift can improve your score a lot:You are not reading a novel. You are searching for evidence.Good luck and as always you can get professional CELPIP or IELTS coaching at celpip.pro ✌️

📚 CELPIP Reading is honestly one of the hardest sections to improve fast.A lot of students expect their score to jump after learning a few tricks, but Reading usually takes time because it depends a lot on your actual English level, vocabulary, and reading speed.A few things that genuinely help 👇1. Stop translating every sentence in your headIf you translate word by word, you’ll run out of time very quickly. Try focusing on the overall meaning instead.2. Don’t panic when you see unknown wordsCELPIP sometimes includes difficult vocabulary on purpose. In many cases, you can still understand enough from the context to answer correctly.3. Learn how to skim and scanYou are not reading a novel. Your goal is to find information efficiently. Read strategically, not perfectly.4. Pay attention to paraphrasingThe test almost never repeats the exact same wording from the passage. Correct answers are usually written differently.5. Build vocabulary over timeThis is the part many people want to skip. Reading articles, Reddit posts, emails, or even reviews in English regularly helps much more than memorizing random word lists.6. Be careful with trap answersSome choices look correct because they use similar words from the text, but the meaning is actually slightly different.7. Practice timing A lot of students can eventually find the correct answers, but CELPIP is also about speed. You need to get comfortable making decisions faster.8. And probably the biggest tip 👇Don’t expect Reading to improve in one week.Speaking and Writing can sometimes improve faster with strategy and structure, but Reading usually improves through consistent exposure to English over time. What’s the hardest part of Reading for you?

Why most CELPIP Writing scores get stuck at CLB7?Let me be direct. CLB 7 is already a great result! However, most high level students can't go higher not because of bad English. They fail because their writing lacks structure and clarity. Here is a typical CLB 7 writer: writes long sentences without control, repeats the same vocabulary, gives opinions without developing ideas, may be inconsistent with their tone.CLB 9 writers: Control paragraph structure, develop one idea properly, use clear transitions, stay consistent in tone. The difference is not vocabulary. Their general English level may be the same. It’s organization and logic that make difference. Before your next practice, ask yourself: do I have a structure - or do I just start writing?Next week, I am going to explain more on how you can improve your coherence. But before that, you got a task at the top! Drop in the comments your response to the full task or 2nd bullet point. As always get professional tutoring here: celpip.pro

One of the most underrated CELPIP decisions - choosing your test date 📅 Too early - you’re not ready and waste your money on an attempt. Too late - you might miss a good draw with low CRS scores.A good rule of thumb - book your test when your practice results are not perfect but stable. If all of your four skills are consistently within the target range, it’s time to book 🔥If a low score CRS draw already happened, like recently, I wouldn’t rush to take the test next day. Also think about life load. Full-time work, stress, poor sleep - all of this affects your results more than people expect. A calm week before the test matters. Now, what if you ready, which day and time do you pick? If possible, avoid booking right after a night shift, long travel, or a heavy workday 😴. Speaking and Writing suffer first when you’re tired. Morning sessions usually work better for most people - your focus is higher, pronunciation is clearer, and stress hormones are lower. Late evening tests often come after a full day of work, which affects fluency and attention. Having enough rest is a key, that’s why I prefer test on Sundays. Final tip - don’t book based on availability alone. Book based on when you perform best under pressure 😊

Parts of Speech and Word FormsThis post is particularly helpful for those aiming for CLB 4 or 5. Did you know that mixing up word forms can seriously hurt your chances of success? 😓Using the wrong form - like saying productivity when you mean productive - negatively impacts your score in both Writing and Speaking. Furthermore, understanding how suffixes change a word's meaning will significantly improve your Reading and Listening scores. ✍️First, let’s break down the 4 most important parts of speech:1. Nouns: Names of things, places, ideas, or people.2. Verbs: Actions or states of being.3. Adjectives: Words that describe nouns.4. Adverbs: Words that describe, you guessed it, verbs. If you know just one "base" word, you can often create three more just by changing the suffix. The result? You perform better on every part of the CELPIP test. 📈Common Suffixes:• Noun: -ment, -tion, -ence, -ity, -ance, -ness• Verb: -ate, -ize, -ify, -en• Adjective: -able/-ible, -al, -ive, -ic, -ed/-ing• Adverb: -lyExample: The word Society is a noun.Add -al: Social (Adjective)Add -ize: Socialize (Verb)Add -ly: Socially (Adverb)💬 Practice in the comments! Can you change these nouns into verbs, adjectives, and adverbs?1) Consistency2) Creativity3) SuccessAs always, good luck with your test! Sometimes I see comments like “CELPIP is not transparent; why can’t I reach a specific level after multiple attempts?🤬” or “It’s all a cash grab; the test is not fair.” My response is always - “you just need help with doing well on the test itself.” In reality, the test is highly transparent. Let’s break it down 👇All Writing and Speaking tests are assigned to raters randomly by an online system. Your name is never shown - full anonymity is maintained at all times 🙈Your performance is not checked by one person. Each Speaking test is assessed by a minimum of 3 different raters. Each Writing test is assessed by a minimum of 4 different raters. They work independently and never see each other’s scores. If the grades they assign have a large discrepancy, your response will be re-evaluated by 2 benchmark raters - extremely experienced professionals who don’t see your previous results🧑‍🎓Raters don’t give a “feeling-based” score. They assess very specific dimensions - Content/Coherence, Vocabulary, Listenability or Readability, Task Fulfillment. Each dimension has clear performance levels with detailed descriptors. Raters look for evidence in your response that matches those descriptors. Finally, when a test taker is not happy with the results, you can apply to have your responses re-evaluated. And we have seen some success in doing so 💯. After all, humans make mistakes. In the end, your job is not only to know English, but to understand the test criteria and meet them consistently.Good luck and reach out if you need help✌️

We continue with CELPIP Speaking this week, and I want to loop back to the most important thing - assessment criteria. As you can see, there are four big dimensions, each with four factors. Have you ever wondered how someone with a lower English level still performs well on the test? I hear this all the time, "oh, my friend can't put two words in English together but he got a CLB 5". And here is why - think about Content/Coherence and Task Fulfillment as the two dimensions where your actual English level matters the least. How much English do you really need to generate 2-3 solid ideas, support them, and organize them clearly? Almost none - you could do that in your own language. How much English do you need to follow the task, answer all questions, and keep the tone appropriate? Honestly - minimal. So instead of constantly chasing new fancy words and catchy phrases, maybe it’s worth focusing on getting these two dimensions as close to perfect as possible?AlexGot a Premium?
