Key Features of Nintendo Switch 2 Leaked a Day Before Expected Announcement

Yesterday, various sources reported that the long-awaited announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 will occur on Thursday, January 16. Now online key specifications of the device have surfaced.

According to insider Zuby_Tech, the console's ARM chip will be equipped with an 8-core processor with a clock speed of up to 1.1 GHz, Nvidia T239 graphics based on the Ampere architecture, featuring 1,534 CUDA cores, 48 third-generation tensor cores, and two ray tracing cores. The GPU frequency will be 561 MHz in handheld mode and 1,007 MHz in docked mode.

The device's RAM will be LPDDR5X with a capacity of 12 GB (two 6 GB chips) with a frequency ranging from 2,133 to 3,200 MHz and a bandwidth from 68.26 to 102.40 Gbit/s.

It is claimed that the GPU performance in handheld mode will be 1.72 TFLOPS, while in docked mode it will reach 3 TFLOPS. These figures are comparable to the Steam Deck (1.6 TFLOPS) and Xbox Series S (4 TFLOPS).

Previously, high-quality renders of the new device appeared online. It will feature an 8.4-inch OLED display, a significant improvement over the original (6.2 inches). If true, the screen area will increase by 44%.

Whether this is all accurate will likely be revealed tomorrow. Insiders claim that the upcoming announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 will focus on the device itself. Games showcasing its capabilities will be demonstrated later. Thus, the presentation will occur in two stages, similar to the original Switch in 2016.
