Participation in events hosted in Russia directly risks associating 8TURN with a regime that is currently waging an illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. Revenue generated from such concerts contributes to the Russian state budget, which actively funds the war. Moreover, international cultural events held in Russia are routinely used as propaganda tools to normalise the regime, project an image of stability, and downplay the devastation it is causing abroad. Sending 8TURN to Russia under these conditions will not only endanger the group’s reputation internationally but also undermine MNH’s responsibility as an agency to ensure the artists are not placed in politically compromising situations. Aligning—intentionally or not—with a dictatorship’s propaganda could have lasting negative effects on the group’s image, public perception, and opportunities in other global markets. Not to mention the heartbreak you have already caused toward ukrainian turnings, hearing their favourite artist be mentioned in the same sentence as the country ruining their livelihood just adds onto the horrors of their reality. Do not feed into the propaganda, this is unacceptable. In the time that 8TURN’s appearance was just a rumour to it now being confirmed, over 30 missiles have been launched, hundreds of attack drones struck and too many deaths including children. Is this what you want to support? We urge MNH to 1. Immediately cancel 8TURN’s participation in this festival.2. Issue a clear public statement clarifying the group’s stance and distancing 8TURN from Russia’s war propaganda. This is not simply a matter of scheduling; it is a matter of moral responsibility. Fans worldwide want to support 8TURN in environments that are safe and do not risk legitimising or financially supporting ongoing violence and human rights violations.
