Easter in KharkivThis year, the faithful of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine celebrate Easter according to the New Julian (Gregorian) calendar. The Kharkiv's Church of St. John the Theologian of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has been a center of strength for Ukrainians throughout the years of Ukrainian independence. And the rector of the church, Father Viktor Marynchak, has been known as the "priest of Kharkiv's Maidans" since the "Orange Revolution" of 2004... During the full-scale war, the church also turned into a large humanitarian hub. Easter brought together a large number of believers, including traditional members of the church community, military personnel, and volunteers...Military chaplains also take part in the blessing of traditional Easter bread.Bishop Mytrofan of Kharkiv and Bogodukhiv and Father Viktor Marynchak, rector of the Church of St. John the Theologian, lead the service together.Despite the so-called "Easter ceasefire" declared by the Russian president, this morning the Russian army attacked the city of Kupyansk, which is located on the front line near Kharkiv, with an aerial guided bomb.
