Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for iPad Now Support Apple Pencil Hover

Apple has updated its Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, adding support for Apple Pencil hover. This feature allows for more precise illustrations, reports MacRumors.

Now, the latest tablets from the company can recognize the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) at a distance of up to 12 millimeters above the display. This allows for preliminary sketches to be evaluated before creating a drawing. Additionally, the Scribble feature, which converts handwriting to typed text on the iPad, now automatically expands text fields when the stylus is hovered over the screen.

It was previously reported that Apple Pencil gained tilt and vector support in iPadOS 16.4, enabling users to see in advance how the angle of the pencil affects the drawn line.

The Apple iWork apps also received bug fixes and a number of other enhancements on iOS and macOS, including the ability to export and send copies of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in various formats directly from the "Share" menu. The updates are available for free in the App Store and Mac App Store.
