Steam to End Support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1

This is the fault of Google Chrome.

American video game distributor Valve has announced the discontinuation of Steam support on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 starting January 1, 2024. After this date, owners of outdated operating systems will no longer be able to use the online service.

This is due to the fact that the platform relies on the embedded Google Chrome, which no longer supports older Windows operating systems. Additionally, future versions of Steam will require features and security updates that are only available in Windows 10 and above.

In light of this, Valve recommends that Steam users upgrade to a current version of Windows.
