After six years as CEO, Perkins Miller is leaving Fandom, the renowned platform for wiki communities.
Perkins Miller, who served as the CEO of Fandom for six years, is leaving the company, a popular platform for wiki communities. Although no official announcement has been made yet, The Verge reported that Miller left his position last week. In a comment to The Verge on behalf of Fandom, Katie Schreiber confirmed his departure and noted that the company is currently being managed by interim leadership, and a new CEO has not yet been appointed.

Miller joined Fandom in 2019 after working at StubHub. Under his leadership, the company acquired several entertainment content platforms from Red Ventures for $50 million, including TV Guide, Metacritic, GameSpot, and Giant Bomb. According to Miller, the goal of the deal was to expand business opportunities and provide engaging content for partners, advertisers, and fans. However, this process was accompanied by several editorial staff cuts across multiple newly acquired projects.
At a general meeting last October, Miller explained that the company's restructuring and failure to meet revenue targets were the reasons for these cuts. While Fandom wikis dedicated to specific intellectual properties remain popular, the platform is known for its difficulty in navigation due to the large amount of aggressive advertising, which often makes pages unstable and nearly unusable.
In 2023, Miller mentioned in an interview for the Decoder program that the team is doing everything possible to make the platform as user-friendly as possible while maintaining its economic efficiency. Although a new CEO for Fandom has not yet been appointed, today PlayOn! Sports Network, a network that aggregates videos of school sports events, announced the appointment of Perkins Miller to this position.
