The update changed the colors, shapes of elements, and other visual aspects of the application.
Google released an update for Gmail for iPhone and iPad, refreshing the design in Material 3 style. The app now has a more modern look, and its elements have become more rounded.

The main change is the search bar - it now has an elongated "pill" shape instead of a rounded rectangle. The bottom navigation bar, if Google Chat and Meet are enabled, also received a new style: the active section is now highlighted not just by a changed icon, but by a separate rounded tab.
The app's accent color changed from red to blue, which is now present in various shades depending on the theme used - light or dark. However, unlike the Android version, the email client for iOS does not support dynamic colors based on the device's wallpaper.
The button for creating a new email is now shaped like a rounded rectangle and is colored bright blue in dark mode. The icon for additional actions in an open email has also changed: it is now three horizontal dots in a circle instead of vertical dots.
Among the Google services that already use Material 3 are "Search," "Maps," "Photos," "Translate," Home, and Gemini.
