So far, it only works with a few applications.

In the recently released beta version of Windows 11 (build 22635.4805), a simplified way to share files with various applications has been discovered - by dragging objects to the top of the screen.

User X under the nickname @phantomofearth demonstrated on their page how it works. During the file drag, a special menu opens with a list of applications that support sharing, including Outlook and Phone Link. To transfer a document, simply hover it over the desired icon.

The Neowin portal emphasizes that this innovation does not conflict with the Snap Layouts feature, as the latter is activated only when dragging windows.

Microsoft has not yet announced this option, but users of build 22635.4805 can already test it. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Download the ViveTool utility from GitHub and extract the files to a convenient folder.
  • Open the command prompt with administrator rights and navigate to the folder with the ViveTool files using the CD command (for example, if you saved ViveTool in the C:\Vive folder, type "CD C:\Vive").
  • Enter the command "vivetool |enable |id:45624564,53397005,48433719" and press Enter.
  • Restart your computer.

After this, the feature should work by default.
