Mozilla plans to launch support for an open extension ecosystem for Firefox on Android. Currently, the browser only allows a small subset of various add-ons to be installed.
At present, the company is creating new guides, resources, and hosting events for developers to ensure they have everything needed to create modern mobile web extensions.
Mozilla has already built the infrastructure for additional functionality and will announce the launch date for the new option in September. It is possible that it will be available to users in the same month. In any case, this will happen by the end of the year, the company promises. It is still unknown whether it will be added to the iOS version.
