Peace Corps Ukraine’s TEFL team is excited to announce that the free online training “Trauma Informed Teaching for English Teachers During the War” will be held during February 10 – March 6, 2025. The training includes the online course of five modules for synchronous and asynchronous learning on Moodle and nine online sessions that are designed to promote a supportive environment and self-care awareness in the classroom during war time.Course/Training StructureThe online course is developed by the Peace Corps Ukraine TEFL team in cooperation with the NGO “Support a Child” staff per request of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The purpose of the course is to provide teachers of English with knowledge of stress, response techniques for different age groups experiencing psychological trauma, psychological support to teachers, and promotion of a safe educational environment. You will learn about trauma features in different age groups, ways to support students in acute situations, integration of psychological support in the English language classroom, and adaptation of teaching materials for some sensitive topics. Introduction to Moodle, three sessions on Modules 1-3 and a session on Psychological Support to Teachers will be done in Ukrainian, Modules 4 and 5 and two additional technical sessions will be conducted in English as they focus on teaching English in the current classroom situation.
