Red Lines Before AlaskaToday, all the talk is about Alaska and the upcoming meeting between President Trump and Putin. This one-on-one negotiation could truly become one of the most discussed events of the year, especially after it ends and the results are announced. Who will come out the winner, we shall see later. For us, the main thing is to ensure Ukraine is not among the defeated. To prevent the worst-case scenario, it is worth remembering and firmly following clear “red lines.”First - nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. No one has the right to decide our fate behind our back. Any decisions concerning Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security must be made only with Ukraine’s participation. Let’s not forget: those not at the table (of negotiations) are on the menu.Second - nothing about Europe’s security without Europe.Ukraine is an integral part of the European security system. The fate of the continent cannot be decided in talks between two states, no matter how influential, without the voice of a united Europe.Third - neither Ukraine nor the Free World trades territories. This is a fundamental principle. Breaking it paves the way to chaos. If someone tries to legitimize the forceful seizure of another’s land, it will send a signal for new aggressions worldwide.Fourth -Ukraine does not trade away its interests, nor advise others to do so.Any agreements that involve concessions at the expense of Ukraine’s interests are unacceptable.Fifth - addressing global stability challenges starts with Ukraine. As long as Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, a return to global peace, security, and stability is impossible. Without justice for Ukraine, there can be no lasting security for the world. We want to believe all our partners understand these points, and that Ukrainian diplomacy continues to ensure they do.
