Activision to End Warzone Support on PS4 and Xbox One
Activision will drop support for Call of Duty: Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. Players who want to continue playing will need to upgrade to a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series S/X. The company announced the change alongside news about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Warzone will be removed from PS4 and Xbox One storefronts on June 4th and become unplayable once Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 begins.
Key dates and what they mean
- June 4: Warzone is removed from PS4 and Xbox One storefronts. Players can no longer download the game on those platforms.
- June 25: The in-game store in Warzone will be disabled on PS4 and Xbox One.
- Later this year: Warzone will stop working on those consoles when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches.
Why this matters
The timing is inconvenient for players who still own last-generation consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft increased prices for their current-gen systems over the past year. For example, the PS5 and Xbox Series X now sell for about $150 more than their original $499 launch price. This price rise makes upgrading less appealing for some gamers.
Modern Warfare 4 and platform availability
Activision announced Modern Warfare 4 the same day it confirmed the Warzone changes. Modern Warfare 4 will target current-generation hardware: PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 release follows a 10-year deal between Microsoft and Nintendo as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition. This is the first Call of Duty title confirmed for the Switch 2.
