Sony raises PlayStation Plus monthly and quarterly prices in select regions

Sony is increasing the starting price of one-month and three-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in "select regions," citing "ongoing market conditions." The changes take effect on May 20th and apply to new purchases and users who change or let their subscriptions lapse.

PlayStation Plus price increase: monthly and 3-month rates

New starting prices

  • 1-month: $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP
  • 3-month: $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP

In the United States, that means a $1 increase for a one-month Essential tier subscription and a $3 increase for a three-month Essential tier subscription. Sony has not confirmed whether other PlayStation Plus tiers will also see price changes.

Impact on current subscribers

Existing subscribers will generally keep their current price, unless they switch tiers or let their subscription expire. Sony noted exceptions in Turkey and India where current prices may change.

"Ongoing market conditions" are the reason Sony gives for the price adjustments.

Context: broader price moves

This subscription increase follows recent PS5 console price hikes announced by Sony. The company attributed those earlier changes to "continued pressures in the global economic landscape." Together, these moves reflect wider shifts in hardware and gaming services pricing influenced by supply, inflation, and currency fluctuations.

What gamers should consider

  • Check your renewal date to understand if the new prices will affect you.
  • Compare subscription tiers—monthly versus quarterly or annual plans—to find the best value.
  • Watch for regional updates. Prices and availability vary by country and can change with local market conditions.
