Nvidia rolls out DLSS 4.5 with 6x Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50-series
Nvidia has announced that DLSS 4.5, featuring 6x Multi Frame Generation, will be available starting March 31 for users with RTX 50-series GPUs. The upgrade promises a major jump in frame generation for supported games, improving performance and responsiveness for many players.

DLSS 4.5 can generate five additional frames for every single natively rendered one, delivering up to a 6x multiplier.
What 6x Multi Frame Generation means
With 6x Multi Frame Generation, Nvidia says DLSS 4.5 can produce five extra frames for each native frame. That yields a maximum 6x increase over the original frame count. By contrast, previous DLSS iterations allowed up to three additional frames per native frame (a 4x total output in some scenarios). In practical terms, gamers should expect higher perceived frame rates and smoother motion without the GPU having to render every frame natively.
Dynamic Frame Generation
Launching the same day is Dynamic Frame Generation for RTX 50-series cards. This feature automatically switches between Multi Frame Generation multipliers to reach a target framerate — either the in-game target or your display's refresh rate. The goal is to balance visual quality and performance so you hit smooth framerates without unnecessary overhead.
How this affects gameplay and performance
- Higher effective framerates: Games can feel much smoother, especially on high-refresh-rate displays.
- Lower GPU load: By generating frames instead of rendering them all natively, GPUs can maintain higher performance in demanding scenes.
- Variable behavior: Results will depend on the game's engine and how well DLSS integrates with its rendering pipeline.
GeForce Now updates
Nvidia is also improving its cloud-gaming service, GeForce Now. Key updates include:
- GOG account linking: Soon you can connect your GeForce Now account with GOG to streamline your library access. Nvidia says this will arrive in the "coming months."
- Higher VR framerates: If you use GeForce Now in a VR headset, the service will support up to 90fps (up from 60fps) starting March 19. This increase is available to Ultimate subscribers.
- Install-to-Play additions: Select Xbox games will join GeForce Now's Install-to-Play library, with titles like Brutal Legend and Contrast confirmed among the additions.
Availability and rollout
Nvidia previously announced DLSS 4.5, Dynamic Frame Generation, and 6x Multi Frame Generation and had provided a "spring" launch window. The company has now set a firm date: March 31 for DLSS 4.5 features on RTX 50-series cards, and March 19 for the GeForce Now VR framerate upgrade.
What gamers should consider
Not every game will benefit equally. Performance gains depend on how the game renders frames and whether developers support DLSS integration. Players with high-refresh monitors or VR headsets stand to see the biggest practical improvements. As always, test updates in your favorite games to judge quality and latency trade-offs.
