According to Bleeping Computer, the flaw in the system has likely existed since the beginning of the year. It allows attackers to install spyware on third-party devices.

In Google, it is described as "a bug that causes confusion in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine." The term "zero-day vulnerability" is typically used for exploits that were not detected during testing and are currently unknown to antivirus software.

"Access to information about the bugs and links may be restricted until most users receive the fix. We will also maintain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other, still unpatched projects depend on," Google stated in its blog.

The update 112.0.5615.121 is already available for Chrome users on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
