Resident Evil Requiem Devs Say Grace And Leon's Sections Are 'Almost Equally Split,' Detail Leon's Porsche

Capcom released a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem during The Game Awards 2025, featuring the return of Leon S. Kennedy to the series—older and grittier than ever. In interviews proceeding the trailer, Capcom spoke with Automaton (and coverage from IGN) about the dual-protagonist structure, Leon's role, and Grace's and Leon's playable portions being nearly equal in length. Director Koshi Nakanishi explained that Grace and Leon share the runtime almost equally, likening the structure to Resident Evil Revelations. Nakanishi also noted that León's return to Raccoon City—his first since Resident Evil 2—offers a fresh perspective as he faces the place where it all began, now viewed through an older lens. The team described refining Leon into a cooler, more composed "ikeoji" persona, a reaction to the trailer's reception that pleased the development team.

In the interview, Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa discussed Leon's new vehicle: a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT custom-built to fit the game's world. Kumazawa said Porsche collaborated to create a one-of-a-kind car that complements the gritty atmosphere of Requiem.
