Apple News: iOS Updates, New Products, and Upcoming Announcements
This week, the world of Apple software saw many significant events. The update for iOS 26.1 was released, and soon after, beta testing for iOS 26.2 began. There are also rumors about new iPhone 18 models and other devices.

Regarding operating systems, Apple released the first major updates: iOS 26.1, macOS Tahoe, and others. The new release adds several features, including a switch for adjusting Liquid Glass transparency, an option to disable the swipe gesture on the lock screen for quick access to the camera, a new "slide to stop" button for alarms and timers, and support for Apple Intelligence languages.
After the release of iOS 26.1, the public beta version of iOS 26.2 quickly became available for testing. Changes found in this beta version include a new Liquid Glass slider for the clock on the lock screen, updates to Sleep Score features, the ability to set alarms for reminders, and other enhancements. Additionally, users in the EU will gain access to the Live Translation feature on AirPods, although simultaneous Wi-Fi synchronization between iPhone and Apple Watch will be unavailable.
Looking ahead, Apple plans to release at least 15 new products in 2026. This will likely include updates to the smart home platform, as well as new versions of Apple TV and HomePod mini by the end of 2025. New Mac models are expected to appear as early as next year.
Rumors also suggest possible new colors for the iPhone 18 Pro. According to a well-known insider and Weibo user under the nickname "Instant Digital," next year's iPhone 18 Pro models may be available in warm, rich colors such as coffee, purple, or burgundy. However, Apple is currently in the process of making a final decision, and production is focused on only one of these options.
Another interesting aspect is the new version of Siri, which reportedly will rely on Google Gemini. This powerful AI model is expected to debut around spring or summer next year. Apple plans to invest in the development of its voice assistant and has already agreed to pay Google about $1 billion a year for the use of the Gemini model with 1.2 trillion parameters.
As the holiday season approaches, Apple and other retailers are starting to offer early discounts on their products. Ahead of Black Friday, the first discounts are already available from retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Samsung. This is a great opportunity for shoppers to save on popular gadgets and accessories.
