Ayaneo Confirms Release of Its First Retro-Designed Phone

Ayaneo, known for its retro gaming portable devices, has officially confirmed that it will soon release its first smartphone. Earlier in August, the company hinted at working on this phone during the presentation of the dual-screen device Pocket DS. Many of Ayaneo's portable gaming gadgets run on a modified version of Android, so the integration of a mobile modem makes perfect sense.

Currently, not many details are known. The teaser shows a device in a standard rectangular body with dual cameras in the upper left corner and possibly buttons on the side edges. According to Android Central's speculation, the phone may feature a slider design similar to the Sony Xperia Play, where the controls are hidden under the screen, although this is difficult to confirm from the video.

Ayaneo will not be the only company releasing a gaming phone, but modern models often forgo physical buttons, instead focusing on powerful processors and cooling systems to run demanding games. Physical controllers are usually available as additional accessories; however, Ayaneo may disrupt this trend.

It is still unknown whether this phone will be available in the USA, so it may be wise not to get too excited about its release prospects just yet. Details remain unclear, but anticipation around the new product is growing.
