Major Microsoft Azure Outage Disrupts Xbox and Microsoft 365

A major outage in Microsoft Azure's cloud service caused disruptions in the operation of popular services such as Xbox, Microsoft 365, and Minecraft. The issues began around 12:00 PM Eastern Time and were related to an unintended configuration change and DNS problems. In addition to Microsoft, other companies, including Capital One, Alaska Airlines, and Starbucks, were affected by this outage.

Microsoft reported that at 3:20 PM Eastern Time, it began implementing the latest working configuration, expecting full restoration within four hours. At the time of publication, the company's main website was operating slowly, and Microsoft 365 services confirmed issues with access and are working on redirecting traffic to restore functionality.

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines reported disruptions in key systems, advising passengers to contact airport agents for boarding passes. Internet provider Community Fibre in the UK also confirmed that the outage affected users, while companies like Kroger, Starbucks, and Costco experienced difficulties accessing their websites and apps.

The Azure outages occurred just a week after significant issues with AWS, which caused internet disruptions. This highlights the instability of modern cloud services and the importance of their reliable operation.
