Adobe has announced the launch of a new AI assistant for Photoshop, designed to help designers and creative professionals automate routine tasks. Powered by agent-based artificial intelligence, this assistant can perform creative tasks, offer personalized recommendations, and provide tutorials. Additionally, it will be available in Adobe Express — Adobe's cloud-based design tool.

Adobe Photoshop adds AI assistant for automating routine design tasks

With Photoshop and Express, users will be able to work with creation and editing tools through a conversational interface. Adobe claims that it is easy to switch from dialog-based creation to manual editing, with access to manual tools.

Moreover, several new AI tools will be introduced in Photoshop, including Generative Upscale and Generative Fill, in collaboration with the Gemini 2.5 Flash, Black Forest Labs LUX.1, Kontext, and Firefly Image Models. These tools allow users to remove or modify content using text prompts.

One of the new features, Harmonize, helps blend people or objects into new scenes by matching light, color, and tone for natural results. Harmonize, along with Generative Fill and Generative Upscale, is already available, while the AI assistant for Photoshop is currently in private beta testing through a waiting list. The Adobe Express AI assistant is available for premium users.
