The new deadline for the Epic vs. Google case has been set for October 29. Initially, this deadline was scheduled for October 22, 2025, but District Judge James Donato agreed to postpone it by one week. According to the ruling signed on October 20, 2025, actions regarding the opening of the Google app store, the cessation of mandatory use of Google Play Billing by developers, as well as the ability to set their own prices and other provisions stemming from Epic's victory in this case, will be delayed until October 29. The reason for this postponement is currently unknown. Earlier, Epic's CEO, Tim Sweeney, celebrated the initial deadline of October 22 as the day when developers would be able to legally offer users in the U.S. additional payments outside of Google Play without commissions and obstacles, similar to Apple App Store users. Google stated that it would fulfill its legal obligations during the appeal, so after October 29, the company plans to stop requiring the use of Google Play Billing for developers distributing apps through Google Play. At the same time, there is a possibility that the U.S. Supreme Court may grant an additional extension, as Google intends to file an appeal to the Supreme Court by October 27. Further updates on this case can be followed in the news or personalized feeds from The Verge.
