Jimmy Fallon Helps Create a TV Show Inspired by Wordle

Jimmy Fallon is helping to turn Wordle into a television show, reports Deadline. NBC is preparing a pilot episode of the game featuring Fallon's production company, and filming is currently taking place in the United Kingdom. Savannah Guthrie will be the host.

When Wordle began to gain popularity, Jimmy Fallon dedicated an entire segment to the puzzle on his show The Tonight Show, where he solved riddles in front of an audience. This segment aired just before The New York Times acquired Wordle from creator Josh Wardle in early 2022.

I hope the television show won't just be a simple broadcast of a single player solving puzzles — as was the case with Fallon — since viewers want to make guesses themselves. At the same time, I hope the format of the Wordle show will take inspiration from the game show Lingo, where teams compete in quickly solving puzzles similar to Wordle for cash prizes. This would make the show more dynamic.

While it cannot be said with certainty that the show will air, given the popularity of Wordle, the likelihood of its appearance is quite high.
