The CEO of Rivian, RJ Scaringe, once again confirmed why the company is opting out of integrating Apple CarPlay. He discussed this in his appearance on the latest episode of The Verge's Decoder podcast. According to Scaringe, Rivian aims to create a "seamless digital experience," where drivers won't have to switch between their own software and CarPlay. Instead, the company offers users the option to choose from built-in apps like Apple Music, Google Maps, Spotify, and YouTube.

Scaringe expressed confidence in the decision to skip CarPlay, especially considering plans to integrate artificial intelligence into vehicles over the next 18 months, including voice input features. He also acknowledged that the absence of CarPlay might influence some customers' decisions to purchase a Rivian. However, the executive emphasized that the company is prepared to make this choice, focusing on its own technologies and user convenience.
