Meta Enhances Horizon Worlds Metaverse with New Game Engine and Creator Studio

Meta enhances its social space Horizon Worlds, reminiscent of Roblox, by introducing significant updates. In particular, a new game engine with improved graphics and Meta Horizon Studio has been launched — an editor that allows creators to build unique VR worlds.

Creators now have the ability to use generative AI tools for creating textures and audio. Later this year, an AI assistant will be added to the editor to assist in content development. During a demonstration at Connect 2025, a developer interacted with an AI chatbot, requesting changes such as a new environment or adjustments to the character of AI-controlled NPCs.

The new metaverse operates on Horizon Engine, which provides better graphics, faster performance, and more advanced VR worlds with the capability of connecting more users simultaneously, according to Meta. While the platform is expanding from VR to mobile devices, it has yet to gain widespread popularity. However, Meta aims to attract more content creators by launching a $50 million fund earlier this year to support metaverse users.
