New Siri Features: Global Knowledge and Personalization
Apple plans to release an updated version of Siri with the "Global Knowledge" feature in early 2026. As part of this update, Siri will receive an integrated AI-based web search function that will become part of the voice assistant. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, this tool will be able to respond to queries similar to ChatGPT or Google Search using AI, and Apple refers to it as "Global Knowledge Answers." Some company executives use the term "answer engineering" for this feature.
Initially, it will only be available through Siri, but in the future, it is planned to be added to the Spotlight and Safari search systems. There is also consideration for creating a separate chatbot application for search, although specific plans have not yet been defined. Searching with Siri will support text, photo, and video interfaces, as well as the ability to find interesting places and summarize search results for clear presentations.
The new answer engineering for Siri will be implemented as part of updates scheduled for 2026. Additionally, Apple is working on creating a smarter and more personalized version of Siri, which was initially planned for iOS 18 but was delayed due to architectural challenges. Currently, the company is using a new second-generation architecture based on large language models (LLM). According to Craig Federighi, the revamped architecture is already yielding positive results and allows the company to implement planned features and even significantly improve them.
