The launch of the Apple Watch Series 11 will take place next month with new features. In just a few weeks after the presentation scheduled for September, many exciting innovations are expected. Last year, the company updated the display of the models, and this year, new health monitoring features may be introduced.

Launch of Apple Watch Series 11: new features and expectations

Rumors suggest that Apple will introduce an updated S11 chip, which will be more compact and efficient. This is expected to positively impact performance and battery life, as well as free up space for a larger battery or other internal components. Additionally, the Series 11 models are likely to feature new MediaTek modems with support for 5G RedCap — a service designed for wearables with limited 5G speeds.

Currently, Apple Watch supports LTE, but with the advent of 5G RedCap, connectivity could significantly improve. There is also ongoing development of a blood pressure monitoring feature. While there is no exact information about the launch of this option yet, there is a possibility that it will appear in the 2025 models. Considering the issues with accuracy and reliability, Apple may further refine this feature, which is likely to focus on detecting hypertension rather than accurately measuring systolic and diastolic pressure.

As for the software, the new models will run on watchOS 26, which is currently in beta testing. The update includes a new Workout Buddy — a virtual coach that uses generative AI to motivate during workouts supported by the iPhone. Also, watchOS 26 will feature a new Liquid Glass design, an updated Smart Stack, a revamped Control Center, and other gestures and functions.

Hints of a sleep assessment feature have appeared in the system code, which could be included in future models. It could evaluate how well you function throughout the day based on the amount of sleep received. Currently, the Apple Watch already monitors sleep phases — REM, Core, and Deep — and shows metrics for time in bed and wakefulness. However, the full sleep assessment feature has yet to be implemented and is likely to appear only in the new 2025 models.

Another important aspect is the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch in 2025. Rumors suggest a possible release of a special anniversary edition with a new design and a magnetic strap attachment system. Although with Series 10, Apple already introduced a smaller model, there are currently no confirmations regarding new attachment systems or other significant changes in Series 11. Nevertheless, the company may do something special for this milestone.

Another anticipated feature in future models is blood oxygen monitoring. Currently, this option is unavailable for models in the US, and there are no signs that it will appear in Series 11. However, there is potential for expanding functionality to enhance health monitoring on the horizon.
