Blizzard halts the development of new content for the mobile game Warcraft Rumble due to significant layoffs at its parent company Microsoft. Following the dismissal of around 9,000 employees at Microsoft, which affected its subsidiaries, it is reported that up to 100 Blizzard developers were involved in this project. The studio is winding down work on new content for Warcraft Rumble, although the game itself will remain supported. In a statement, Blizzard noted that the company will continue to support the game with updates focused on regular system events and bug fixes, but without creating new content.

Blizzard added that Warcraft Rumble did not achieve the expected success, complicating its long-term development. Developers tried to take player feedback into account, but it was not enough for the stable development of the project. It is worth noting that Warcraft Rumble was the first mobile game in the Warcraft universe. It was released in 2023 after nine years of development and was one of two mobile games Blizzard was working on. The other was an unofficial variant similar to Pokémon Go, which was not officially announced and was canceled in 2022.
