Apple today sent a survey to some Vision Pro users, asking them about the usefulness of various features, available accessories, and competing devices. Many questions focused on feedback regarding screen resolution, fit quality, and other factors, but there were also interesting points. Apple inquired about guest mode, the usefulness of the Vision Pro app for iPhone, as well as accessories used with the headset.

Questions were raised about competing mixed reality and virtual reality devices, specifically regarding the Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, other Meta Quest devices, PlayStation VR, Valve Index, and ByteDance Pro. Regarding smart glasses, Apple asked about Meta Ray-Ban, Amazon Echo Frames, and Snapchat Spectacles. PlayStation VR and Meta Quest devices are competitors to Vision Pro, but currently, Apple does not have a product similar to Meta Ray-Ban or Echo Frames. However, the company aims to compete with these devices, and rumors suggest that it is developing smart glasses that are similar in functionality and design to Meta Ray-Ban.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to release its first smart glasses by 2027. Other sources, such as Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, believe they will appear in 2026. Kuo reports that the glasses will have several frame and arm material options for individual style, support voice control, gesture recognition, and audio playback. Built-in cameras will allow for photo and video capture, as well as provide information to an AI assistant that will be aware of the surrounding environment.

The smart glasses expected in 2027 will feature an addition in the form of XR Glasses with an integrated screen for augmented reality.

As for Vision Pro, an updated model may be released this year, equipped with a new M5 chip, without any other significant changes. In 2027, Kuo announces the launch of "Apple Vision Air," a new model of Vision Pro that will be lighter and cheaper, with a chip taken from the iPhone instead of the Mac chip. In 2028, a second generation of Vision Pro is planned with an updated design, a Mac-level processor, and a lower price.
