New Microsoft Xbox PC Launcher Unites Steam, Epic, and More in One Library

Almost simultaneously with the announcement of new features, Microsoft announced the start of testing a unified game library in the Xbox app for Windows. It is already available for participants in the testing programs. The new library conveniently gathers all games installed through various launchers, such as Steam, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Riot Games, in one place — similar to GOG Galaxy.

During testing, it was found that the app automatically detects installed games and displays them in the Xbox library with thumbnails or icons, as well as indicating the corresponding launcher. Although the thumbnails still need improvement, users can launch games directly or open them in the respective launchers. There is also the option to hide games from certain stores if they do not want them displayed in the app.

Overall, this integration is just the first step. It allows users to see a list of games without additional features, such as Xbox achievements. The consolidated library is part of Microsoft's strategy to make the Xbox app on Windows the main hub for PC gaming and improve the user experience.

Regarding the enhancement of the experience on portable devices, users have noticed the appearance of "Xbox full-screen experience" settings on some ROG Ally models. While these settings are already available, the feature itself is not yet activated. Microsoft has confirmed that soon devices, including ROG Ally, will receive a full-screen Xbox experience, likely as part of testing new capabilities.
