Dbrand has officially acknowledged that its response to user complaints regarding the detachment of Killswitch Joy-Con controllers from the Switch 2 console was not swift or effective enough. Users reported that the controllers could accidentally disconnect, especially when holding the console in a certain way, such as when using grips or when holding it with one hand while the device is positioned parallel to the ground. It turned out that the Killswitch grips create a slight lip that fills the space between the Joy-Con and the main part of the console, which can lead to controller detachment. Dbrand has promised to send replacement grips to all customers and is already working on improvements.

The issue arises when users hold the Switch 2 only by the Joy-Con, without supporting the main part of the device. This is particularly relevant during one-handed use or when the device is positioned parallel to the ground. Research has shown that some grips had an internal lip that exceeded the acceptable thickness by 0.12 mm. The company has already adjusted its manufacturing standards to prevent similar occurrences.

Users experiencing the issue are advised to contact support for replacement grips. They plan to start sending them out in July. In response to criticism, Dbrand has promised to change its communication strategy, apologize for previous statements, and send replacement grips to all customers, regardless of whether they have experienced the issue.

The company is working on two new versions of the grips: one with a thinner lip and another with a new design that completely eliminates the risk of detachment. Production of the updated models is set to begin after July 10, when it will be determined which model will be used for replacements. The next update from Dbrand is also expected on July 10.
