Meta has announced new Oakley smart glasses with cameras and AI, launching on June 20th.
Today, Meta unveiled several teasers on social media regarding a future product it plans to release in partnership with Facebook. This likely pertains to smart glasses under the Oakley brand, which have been discussed earlier this year. A set of smart glasses has already been created in collaboration with Ray-Ban, but in January, Bloomberg reported that Meta is also working on integrating technologies into Oakley glasses.

The new Oakley glasses, similar to Ray-Ban, will feature built-in cameras for capturing photos and videos, as well as artificial intelligence capabilities. The integration of artificial intelligence in Ray-Ban allows users to answer questions about their surroundings. The glasses will also be equipped with speakers for music playback and the ability to take phone calls.
The model of the glasses is likely based on the Oakley Sphaera, with a camera positioned in the center of the frame. Meta may target these glasses at cyclists and athletes who already use Oakley eyewear. Oakley has yet to confirm the release of the new model, and the teaser currently consists only of the Meta and Oakley logos. More information about the new product will be revealed on June 20, when its presentation is expected.
Rumor has it that Apple is also working on its own smart glasses with cameras and artificial intelligence to catch up with Meta. Their devices are expected to have similar features, including cameras, microphones, and artificial intelligence capabilities. Both companies are actively developing full-fledged augmented reality glasses, and Meta has already showcased a prototype called Orion. Meta's AR glasses are expected to launch as early as 2027.
