Nintendo DS was an incredibly popular console, but replicating its unique design with dual screens on modern handheld devices is no easy task. Retroid offers an original solution: an additional screen that clips onto handheld consoles and is compatible with devices from other manufacturers.

This accessory — the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on — features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and side brightness adjustment buttons. The additional screen is available in three colors: black, purple (inspired by GameCube), and translucent white, but it is currently sold out. The device weighs about 130 grams, as it does not have its own battery and is powered by the connected gadget.
The screen is compatible with devices up to 115 mm in height that support DisplayPort over USB-C, except for the Steam Deck. The bracket allows the screen to be positioned at three different angles using a locking hinge, although it does not fold flush against the device like the original Nintendo DS.
