New Features of the "Phone" App on iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe
With the release of iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, the "Phone" app gains support on Mac and iPad, further expanding its capabilities. Now you can make phone calls via Apple's Wi-Fi calling directly from these devices. The app includes all your incoming calls, voicemail, contacts, and FaceTime calls, as well as new features that were previously available only on iPhone.
What's New in the "Phone" App on All Devices
- Call Screening: Unknown callers are now automatically redirected to respond, and they must state their name and reason for the call. This helps better manage incoming calls and avoid spam.
- Live Translation: You can now receive automatic translations during conversations in a foreign language. Your conversation partner will hear a translation of your speech, and you will hear theirs.
- Hold Assistance: If you need to wait for a connection during a call, this feature holds your place in line. You can stay connected, and you will be called back when an agent is available.
The "Phone" features on Mac and iPad operate through Continuity technology—a set of tools for seamless interaction between Apple devices. The app is available in the iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe updates, which can be downloaded now. Public beta versions will be available in July, with a full launch scheduled for September.
