Apple announces the update of visionOS 26 at WWDC 2025

The company Apple introduced a new version of the operating system visionOS 26, which features significant improvements for Apple Vision Pro users. The update transforms widgets into spatial objects that seamlessly integrate into physical environments. In particular, the new version includes customizable widgets such as Clock, Weather, Music, and Photos, offering unique interaction capabilities and remaining in space during the use of Vision Pro. They are also easily customizable, allowing users to enhance their surroundings with panoramas, photos, watch faces, and quick access to Apple Music playlists.

The new app Widgets helps find compatible widgets from iOS and iPadOS. Significantly updated characters utilize volumetric rendering and machine learning, making them more expressive and detailed—now avatars display more accurate profiles with hair, eyelashes, and skin color. Users can view their characters in space during customization and choose from over 1000 eyewear options.

One of the key features is the Spatial Scene—generative AI and depth computing transform ordinary photos into multi-perspective visual experiences. Users can tilt to examine these images in Photos, Spatial Gallery, or Safari. Zillow is already integrating the Spatial Scene API to create real-time property visualizations.

The update also allows for sharing spatial experiences among multiple Vision Pro users in the same room. Now you can watch 3D movies together, play spatial games, or collaborate on projects, adding remote participants via FaceTime. Safari has received a spatial viewing mode that transforms articles into 3D scenes while scrolling, and web developers can embed 3D models for immersive shopping and viewing.

Gamers will appreciate the support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, which provides high-precision motion tracking, touch detection, and haptic feedback. The platform now also supports content playback in 180, 360 degrees, and wider thanks to Insta360, GoPro, and Canon cameras. New capabilities for businesses include device sharing within teams and managing shared Vision Pro pools. Users can now securely store data about eyes, hands, vision prescriptions, and accessibility settings on their iPhone for quick switching between devices. The Protected Content API ensures the security of sensitive information, preventing it from being copied or displayed on the screen.

Additionally, the Look to Scroll feature has been updated for navigation using eyes, unlocking the iPhone while wearing Vision Pro, call forwarding from iPhone, and support for the Home View homepage. Enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities include Image Playground and new languages—French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. visionOS 26 is already available in beta for developers and is scheduled for a wide release in fall 2025.
