The Japanese company Kenko Tokina has introduced the portable retro player KR-019CR. With this device, you can play cassettes, record music onto them, and even convert tracks into MP3 files.
The player is equipped with a 3-watt speaker featuring a 76-mm driver and a microphone for recording music and voice, allowing it to be used as a dictaphone. It has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Recordings from the tape converted into digital format are stored on the device. There is a microSD card slot with a capacity ranging from 4 to 128 GB and a USB Type-A port for drives up to 128 GB, so there should be no issues with storage space. MP3 files can be copied onto the tape and played on the tape recorder.
The player operates for up to 27 hours on four AA batteries or continuously from an external power source. For easy transport, it features a handle. Its dimensions are 49 × 149 × 245 millimeters, and it weighs 685 grams.
In Japan, the Kenko Tokina KR-019CR will go on sale on April 18. The price has not yet been announced.
