In the first part of "Dune," Jason Momoa played Duncan Idaho - a master swordsman and one of the most loyal warriors of House Atreides. His character died while protecting Paul and Lady Jessica, which is why he did not appear in the second part.

However, in the threequel, Momoa will return - he confirmed this himself on the Today show. The new film will be based on the book "Dune Messiah," where Idaho is resurrected as a clone named Gait. He is tasked with killing Paul Atreides, but the assassination attempt leads Gait to recall his past life and become Duncan once again.
"It's something like a story from 'Game of Thrones,'" noted Momoa. "If you haven't read the books, that's not my fault, right? So yes, I am returning in the third part. You heard it here first."
Filming for the "Dune" threequel will start in June 2025 - a year earlier than director Denis Villeneuve had planned. After that, he intends to wrap up work on the franchise: according to Villeneuve, the story delves into too "esoteric" depths. However, rumors suggest that a fourth film is in the plans of Warner Bros.
