Yesterday, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the "Oscar-2025." One of the most discussed surprises was Denis Villeneuve's absence in the "Best Director" category, which puzzled many online users.

Interestingly, his film "Dune-2" made it to the list of contenders for Best Film. This oddity was noted not only by viewers but also by franchise star Josh Brolin, who played the role of Gurney Halleck.

This year, the contenders for Best Director include Sean Baker ("Anora"), Brady Corbet ("Brutalist"), James Mangold ("Bob Dylan: Nobody Knows"), Jacques Audiard ("Emilia Perez"), and Coralie Fargeat ("Substance").

Josh Brolin also went without a nomination, although he was previously a contender for the coveted statuette for Best Supporting Actor in the 2009 drama "Milk."
