A post has gone viral on social media platform X, where a user named Elena Matveeva offers to help solve a geometry problem. According to her, her grandfather asked her for help with this problem, which he encountered during the 1968 olympiad, and has been puzzled by it ever since.

The conditions of the task are described below. As Elena writes, ChatGPT could not solve it - even though her grandfather had high hopes for the neural network.

In the comments, some tried to reach out to AI themselves - specifically to the Chinese DeepSeek, which was developed for solving mathematical problems - and shared their results. However, the girl dismissed all options as incorrect.

Many took it upon themselves to search for a solution, likely spending a lot of time on it.

Some suggested that there might be no solution to the problem or that it lies beyond geometric constructions.

Interestingly, one of the commenters found the same question from 15 years ago on "Answers Mail.ru". It turned out that it was asked by Elena's grandfather's son and her uncle.
