Apple announces acquisition of popular graphic editor Pixelmator

Developers promise not to make any significant changes to the app for now.

Apple announced the acquisition of Pixelmator - a popular image editor for macOS and iOS. According to the app developers, they will now "be able to reach an even wider audience and make a greater impact on the lives of creative people around the world."

Details of the deal have not been disclosed. The fact that it still needs to be approved by regulatory authorities means that it may take a long time before Pixelmator officially becomes part of Apple.

Pixelmator is a worthy and much cheaper alternative to Photoshop - the app can be purchased for $50. The product offers a rich set of tools for editing and retouching, as well as for drawing and design.
