iPhone 16 Pro to Feature 40W Fast Charging and 20W MagSafe

The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max from Apple will support truly fast wired charging at 40W and MagSafe charging at 20W. This is reported by MacRumors, citing Chinese sources.

The current iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro support wired charging with a peak power of 27W, provided that a compatible USB-C power adapter is used. Official MagSafe chargers from Apple and authorized companies deliver up to 15W.

All four models of the iPhone 15 can charge up to 50% in about 30 minutes using a 20W or higher power adapter, similar to the previous Apple iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models. According to sources, the situation is expected to change in the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 lineup to "balance and address the increased charging time caused by the larger battery capacity."

This reasoning is related to other rumors that, except for the iPhone 16 Plus, the iPhone 16 series models will feature larger batteries than their predecessors. In other words, charging time may decrease slightly. This will depend on the battery capacities.
