The film will be dedicated to the events following "John Wick - 4".

Lionsgate will begin filming a spin-off of the "John Wick" franchise in 2025. The movie will be shot in Hong Kong, according to Variety. Donnie Yen will play the lead role, reprising a character that appeared in the fourth John Wick film.

The blind killer Cain, portrayed by Yen, is introduced as an old friend of Wick. He has stepped away from the business but has been hired to deal with Keanu Reeves' character. Ultimately, he frees himself from obligations to his employers.

Lionsgate noted that Yen's character was very well received by audiences, which is why they decided to expand the "John Wick" cinematic universe with his help. The company has not revealed any details about how the events involving Cain will unfold.

The script for the film, which has not yet received an official title, is being written by Robert Askins, known for his work on the Netflix series "The Umbrella Academy." Chad Stahelski is producing the film as part of his contract with Lionsgate to develop the franchise. He directed all four original films.

It is also worth noting that work is underway on the spin-off "Ballerina" starring Ana de Armas in the lead role. The film's release was initially planned for next summer but has been moved to June 6, 2025. The story will also revolve around a killer, played by de Armas.
