Announced: "Portable" 368TB SSD with Suitcase Case

Imagine a large case filled with cash.

Western Digital has introduced the Ultrastar Transporter - a data storage solution that allows users to carry a 368 TB SSD. The device is designed as a suitcase on wheels.

It operates on two 12-core Xeon 4310 processors, making it usable as a network storage solution. The processors are complemented by 128 GB of RDIMM RAM. Access to all solid-state drives, including two boot drives, is achieved via NVMe.

The Ultrastar Transporter is specifically designed for data use in hard-to-reach locations and for quick disk transportation. However, working with it on a train is unlikely: the device requires 1300 W at peak consumption and is quite bulky - its weight, including the case, is 15 kilograms. Nevertheless, it is designed so that even one person can manage the "base."

For network connectivity, there are two 200GbE ports (QSFP112), one 10GbE port (RJ45), two USB 3.0 ports, one COM port (DB9), and VGA.

The price of the device is currently unknown. There is also no information about the release dates.
