Samsung Confirms: One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI Coming to 2021 and 2022 Flagships

Some smartphones will still receive a limited set of AI features.

Samsung has confirmed that some of its 2021 and 2022 smartphones will receive the One UI 6.1 update with the proprietary mobile neural network Galaxy AI.

However, select flagships from 2021 will gain access to a limited set of AI capabilities. These include enhanced search features and Chat Assist, which allows users to customize the tone and style of messages using the keyboard.

The 2022 devices will have a broader functionality of Galaxy AI. But even they will lack Instant Slow-mo - a tool for slowing down video with a long press on the screen. The limitations are explained by the fact that the Exynos and Snapdragon chips used in devices up to 2023 do not allow them to support certain neural network options.

Devices that will receive One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI include:

• Galaxy S21 series;
• Galaxy Z Fold 3;
• Galaxy Z Flip 3 (limited feature set);
• Galaxy S22 series;
• Galaxy Z Fold 4;
• Galaxy Z Flip 4;
• Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets.

In South Korea, the rollout of the update is scheduled for early May. The global timeline has not yet been disclosed, but it can be assumed that other users will also start receiving it next month. Previously, it was reported that over time, AI features will become paid.
