Another significant step for the Celestial Empire on its path to dominance in the space sector.
In China, the testing of the Space Environment Simulation and Research Infrastructure (SESRI) has been completed. This is the world's largest platform that simulates outer space.

The multi-component facility covers an area equivalent to 50 football fields and can model a wide range of conditions to help scientists understand their impact on spacecraft performance and astronaut health.
According to Li, the primary task of the facility is to ensure the safe operation of various devices and the long-term presence of humans in space. China's goal is to become one of the leading space powers by 2030 and the absolute leader in the field by 2045.
Simulator platforms like SESRI, also known as ground space stations, offer a cost-effective way to conduct experiments with various devices without the need to spend on their actual launch, which is very expensive.
The Chinese facility is located in the Harbin Science and Technology Innovation Park in the northeast of the country. It allows researchers to set specific parameters based on their scientific and engineering needs, as well as conduct safer and more convenient repeated experiments.
SESRI consists of four laboratories - for studying space plasma, magnetic environments, animal breeding, and simulating open space. Each of them has several simulators that replicate different conditions, including microgravity, solar radiation, and extremely low temperatures.
Li noted that the research station is open to scientists from around the world, and many have already taken advantage of this offer - 110 universities and institutes from over 30 countries have signed agreements to use the platform.
