Insider Reveals Which Devices Will Get iOS and iPadOS 18

Four gadgets will be left behind.

An insider who regularly gains access to iOS build numbers before public testing has revealed which devices will support iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. He soon deleted the post—as he always does—to ensure his safety and anonymity. This was reported by MacRumors, referencing an enthusiast who managed to screenshot the post before it was removed.

According to the insider, iOS 18 will run on all smartphones that previously received iOS 17:

• iPhone 15 series;
• iPhone 14 series;
• iPhone 13 series;
• iPhone 12 series;
• iPhone 11 series;
• iPhone XR, XS, XS Max;
• iPhone SE 2nd generation;
• iPhone SE 3rd generation.

iPadOS 18 will be available on the following tablets:

• iPad Pro 2018 and newer;
• iPad Air 2019 and newer;
• iPad mini 2019 and newer;
• iPad 2020 and newer.

If this rumor is true, the following tablet models will lose support:

• iPad Pro 10.5" 1st generation (2017);
• iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd generation (2017);
• iPad 6th generation (2018);
• iPad 7th generation (2019).

Thus, the update will not be available for tablets with the Apple A10 Fusion and A10X Fusion processors.

The full announcement of iOS and iPadOS 18 will take place in the summer at the WWDC conference, where beta testing will also begin. The public version will be released in the fall.
