Jim Ryan, who has held the position of CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment and head of PlayStation for 30 years, is preparing to leave his post in March. He gave an interview to Variety, sharing stories from his time at Sony.

He noted that the main challenge of his career was launching the PlayStation 5 during the pandemic. It was the most difficult period, but also his greatest achievement. Problems were everywhere. Almost all consoles were assembled in China, but the country was under lockdown. Developers couldn't gather and discuss ideas properly. Even stores were closed, making it physically difficult to sell consoles. But the company managed to overcome these challenges and ultimately sold over 50 million consoles in 3 years.

Starting April 1, when Ryan leaves Sony Interactive Entertainment, he will be temporarily replaced by Hiroki Totoki, the president of Sony.
