Neuralink Chip Enables Mind-Controlled Mouse Cursor

The first human patient with a Neuralink electronic implant in their head has learned to move a computer mouse cursor using their thoughts. This was reported by the startup's founder, Elon Musk.

According to the businessman, the company now aims to improve interaction processes and expand the implant's capabilities.

In January, Neuralink implanted its chip into a human brain for the first time. The device, resembling an octopus, is called Telepathy. A robot was used for the implantation, surgically placing the implant in the area of the brain responsible for movement. The main goal of the startup is to restore the ability for people who have lost control over their limbs to operate a phone or computer.

Musk also promises that in the future, his technology will enable the treatment of obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia. The installation of chips is expected to become very simple and quick over time.
