Missing Westeros?
Star of "House of the Dragon" Matt Smith revealed the approximate release timeframe for the second season of the series. He believes the continuation will premiere in August this year.
Although the second season of "House of the Dragon" has been confirmed for over a year, HBO has yet to announce its release date. There has been no information about the release even after the filming wrapped up in September 2023. Previously, the company only suggested that the series would be released in August. It seems they decided not to abandon the initial timeline.
In December, the first teaser of the continuation was released.
The prequel to "Game of Thrones" has become one of the few shows unaffected by last year's strikes in Hollywood. The script was completed before the WGA announced the strike, and the team was able to continue filming since most of the cast consists of British actors working under local contracts.
The second season will include eight episodes. That's two fewer than the first season. It was previously reported that HBO is already preparing for the production of the third season.
"House of the Dragon" tells the story of the power struggle among the Targaryens. The events in the series unfold 200 years before what we saw in "Game of Thrones."
